So, California...

The flights there went by without a hitch. Watched some stupid, pointless, waste of someone's good money films. Landed in sunny CA about 6. We went to pick up the rental car, where I was promptly hit on by a man 20 years older than me. He asked to take me to dinner, but he was very apologetic after I declined, he asked again, and I finally told him I was married. My mom thought it was hilarious, especially when he offered to take her with too. Then we navigated our way to the hotel - never got lost once the entire trip, thank you very much, though it took mom and I working together - had dinner and went straight to bed, exhausted. The next morning saw us up at the crack of 6 o'clock in the morning to a cold, cloudy day - remember, as far as we were concerned, it was 8 and 9, respectively - we had a giant apple pancake/tart/souflee thing which was quite good, and set off to Sea World. Saw dolphin shows, beluga whales, polar bears, penguins, held dead fish in my hand for bat rays to come along and suck out of your hands - they were slimey and soft at the same time, and actually kind of cute - and of course, we saw the Shamu show. Later in the day, we "Dined with Shamu" which entailed yummy food eaten inches away from the whale tanks. We didn't get to touch them - sigh - but we did get sprayed with a bit of water when the biggest whale went by and took a breath. Freezing at that point in my t-shirt, we went shopping for a bit, hopped in the jacuzzi at the hotel for a while, and then called it a night. The next day we got up to the same conditions, left San Diego and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway. Got out and walked along the beaches, watched some guys surfing, dipped my feet in the icy water - now i've seen both Atlantic and Pacific; that makes me happy - drove through the towns that all ran together... saw the aftermath of a jewelry store robbery, did more shopping, checked in at our hotel, and then went straight to Medievil Times. We had "Dragon Soup and Roast Buzzard" among other things. The Black and White Knight whose section we were seated in went down in the first round, which sucked... since we were by far the loudest group, thanks to one guy behind us who had to be high. He waved his little flag so hard that he flung it into the back of mom's head. The knight tossed me a flower. ~Grin~ When they had their elaborately choreographed battles, sparks actually flew. Kris says that's the mark of a bad sword, I don't know. I was entertained, and that was enough. There was a lot of screaming and cheering going on. After that, we went straight to bed. The next morning we drove back down to San Diego to catch our flight home. It was finally raining, after two days of grey skies, and apparently people don't know what to do out there when the roads are wet. We saw a FedEx truck that had been hit and just came open. People's packages everywhere, getting soaked if they weren't already spilled all over the freeway. All in all, that's the story of my trip. It was more fun than it seems here in print, and also too short, though I was happy to get home to my guys. Hope you guys had a good time too.
