She said, "How'd you like to waste some time?"
(By the way... in case you haven't noticed, all my titles are lyrics from songs. If you can guess the song, I'll give you a prize or something.)
Okay... I said I'd post about work, so I will. I actually said I'd do it yesterday, but I got sidestacked.
First of all, switching back and forth between the PC at home and the Mac at work is making me a little confused. I hitting alt because i'm looking for the apple on my keyboard... arrgh. I haven't used a Mac since they still called them Apple. I'd go to the public library when I was a kid, slap in the Math Blaster floppy, and get me some learnin. Good times.
Aside from that little wrinkle, work is good. The first day I got overwhelmed with all the details, all the little processes that need to happen every day, but as each day goes by I get a little better. I had a load of things that needed to be accomplished, but I'm getting through them all at a fair speed. Right now I just have to train myself to keep meticulous records of nearly everything for reference, should it come up later. Because it just might. There's still the expense report, but that's a behemoth that I'm going to let lie for just a little bit longer... Phew.
I feel good. Cashiering at a market wasn't bad. It was easy work, it's something I know inside and out - my dad has always managed grocery stores, I lived in the backrooms during the summers, it's where I had my first job - but long term, it didn't offer anything for me and my future and I'm SO GLAD I'm done. God willing, my hands shall never be put to work in retail again. Now I can sit at my desk and type away, answer the phones, pass out mail and whatnot. There's lots of whatnot. It's strangely fulfilling, though. My job does actually matter, and I like that. Plus, I get to sit. It's such a blessing, I can't even describe it. After working for years at grocery stores, fast food, bookstores and chocolatiers, this is the first job where I've ever gotten to take a load off and it's okay. Except for telemarketing, but we won't touch upon that again. So, in a nutshell, I'm very very happy with where I am right now. This has had a really positive effect on my life, and I consider it a blessing. There's still no shot of me popping up on AIM right now, I just don't have the time for it and it's not terribly productive to chat while at work... but if I ever do, I'll create a new sn and basically give it to two people and that'll be it. Har.
I'm gonna go see Harry Potter with my hubby and my boy in a few hours. My guy is old enough now that he's interested and will sit through films, and it's a treat for him as well as us. I love Harry Potter, so I'm really looking forward to it, and I think that the husband will enjoy the Dementors. They look sorta skeletal and undead, and that's right up his alley.
One more note - the Litha ball is on June 19th. Go over to the MT message board and read up, then come have some fun on the night in question. That's all, folks. You rest easy.
